Daily Homework:
At Huntingtowne Farms School, remember we are Responsible, Respectful and Caring.
Second graders can be RESPONSIBLE by completing reading homework EVERY NIGHT, including one night a weekend.
This is what is expected:
Reading: 20 mins. of reading (August-December)/30 mins. of reading EACH night(January-June) AND writing a reflection in the reading log(starting in October). I expect your child to read at least one night a weekend and complete a reading log entry. PLEASE make sure your child is reading a book at THEIR reading level.
Your child may read your own books, library books or borrow one of my books. I love sharing my books, but I expect my books to be returned.
Math: Your child should be practicing his/her flashcards EACH night. They should know (by heart) their addition and subtraction facts up to 20 by the end of 2nd grade. At the moment, your child will be bringing home only occasional math sheets for homework. Soon, we will be have a math sheet a week. More to come about that later....
I will check homework daily. This gives me a chance to check your child's reading comprehension. Reading Homework is very important in the Second Grade....it strengthens your mind!
